Braces in Indiana

Straight, healthy teeth can provide a variety of benefits. Properly aligned teeth are less prone to decay and are easier to brush and floss. If your teeth are crowded, uneven, or have gaps, braces in Indiana can help you restore your quality of life. If you’re wondering whether braces are right for you, read on to learn more about the treatment.

How Can I Get Braces?

Consulting with a knowledgeable braces dentist is key when getting braces. At our practice, we provide braces for patients of all ages—it’s never too late to correct your smile. When you come in for your first consultation, your dentist will examine your teeth and determine the proper course of treatment. If you’re ready to get started, give our office a call today.

What Happens During the Procedure?

Putting on braces is a straightforward procedure that involves three steps. First, your teeth are cleaned and dried. Then, the dentist or orthodontist applies an adhesive to your teeth, which provides a secure hold for the brackets. The glue often tastes unpleasant, but it is completely harmless. The final step involves the dentist attaching the archwires to the brackets. These are secured in place with elastic bands.

Different Types of Braces

When receiving treatment, you have several different options to choose from. Traditional metal braces are the most common type, and they’re often what people envision when thinking about braces. Ceramic braces are shaped just like traditional metal braces, but they’re less noticeable since they’re clear or white. Another type, invisible braces, are transparent. These devices are metal-free and consist of clear aligner trays.

How Much Do Braces Cost?

Cost is a primary concern for many people who are getting braces in Indiana. Many dental insurance plans include braces, so be sure to speak with your provider before treatment begins. The complexity of your orthodontic problems also will factor into the cost. If budget is a concern, consider our flexible payment plans. These plans split the braces cost over several monthly payments, making treatment affordable.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

Getting mouth braces put on generally takes about one to two hours. After the procedure, you may experience soreness around your teeth and gums. This is normal and can be alleviated with over-the-counter pain medicine. Your dentist also may recommend that you avoid certain foods that trigger mouth pain. However, the discomfort usually subsides within a week. Contact our office if you have any questions regarding the procedure.

Retainers After Treatment

Customized to fit your mouth, retainers are simple to use and provide a way to preserve your braces results. After your braces are removed, your dentist may recommend that you wear a retainer for an extended period of time. When you visit our office for your final appointment, your dentist will discuss your retainer options.
